The Type 2 First Aid Kit – Small – CSA Z1220-24 Standard Requirements is a Basic First Aid Kit sized for workplaces with 2 to 25 employees per shift working in a low-risk environment — offices, retail locations, and similar settings where injury risk is limited but more than one lone worker needs coverage.
This kit is built to the updated CSA Z1220-24 standard, the edition of the national workplace first aid kit standard that Quebec and Nova Scotia have adopted. Since each province sets its own requirements, other jurisdictions may adopt this updated edition at a later date; in the meantime they continue to operate under the previous CSA Z1220-17 standard. Which kit type and size a workplace needs depends on the number of employees per shift and the level of injury risk in the work being performed.
Unlike the Type 1 Personal Kit, this Type 2 Small kit is built for a small group rather than a single lone worker, and it steps up the contents accordingly. It includes a Windlass-style tourniquet, which is a new addition under the updated CSA Z1220-24 standard — the previous Z1220-17 edition of this Type 2 Small kit did not include one — alongside a CPR mask with one-way valve, which was already part of the Z1220-17 kit, plus the bandages, dressings, and antiseptics a low-risk workplace needs day to day.
Inside, this kit packs 91 pieces of CSA-specified first aid supplies across 23 item types: assorted fabric and plastic adhesive bandages (including junior, fingertip, and joint sizes), sterile gauze pads, a trauma pad, sterile compression bandages with gauze ties, an elastic bandage, gauze and stretch gauze dressings, two triangular dressings, benzalkonium chloride (BZK) antiseptic wipes, 70% alcohol-based hand disinfectant wipes, medical examination gloves, bandage scissors, forceps, a biohazard waste bag, an emergency blanket, a CPR mask, and a Windlass-style tourniquet.
