Is it time?

Signs Your AED Is Ready for Retirement

An AED keeps performing internal self-checks every day from the moment it's manufactured — and like any electronic device, it doesn't last forever. If any of the below sound familiar, your unit may be due for an upgrade.

⏳

Warranty has expired

Most AEDs carry a maximum manufacturer warranty of around 7–8 years. Past that, you're on your own if something fails.

📅

Older manufacture date

The closer a unit gets to (or past) the end of its expected service life, the higher the risk of it not being ready when needed.

🔋

Costly pads & batteries

Replacement accessories for older or discontinued models can be expensive — or increasingly hard to find at all.

đŸš«

Discontinued model

When a manufacturer stops supporting a model, parts and software updates eventually dry up. We can help confirm your unit's status.

Trade-In Eligibility & Policy

  • To qualify, the traded-in AED must power on and be free of physical damage that would prevent safe operation.
  • Trade-in credits are arranged directly with an AED Specialist and are applied to your invoice — they can't be applied at standard online checkout.
  • The old unit must be shipped back to us within 30 days of receiving your new AED, using the prepaid label provided.
  • Units on a manufacturer recall list may still be eligible — let us know the model and we'll confirm.
  • Proof of shipment for the traded-in unit is required; if it isn't received within the window above, the trade-in credit may be invoiced separately.

Trade-in values vary by AED model, age, and condition, and are confirmed by an AED Specialist before any order is placed. Canadian Safety Supplies reserves the right to modify or end this program at any time.

Common questions

Trade-In FAQ

Do I have to buy the same brand I'm trading in?

No — you can trade in any eligible brand toward any new AED we carry. Your specialist can help you compare options if you're switching brands.

What if my AED doesn't power on anymore?

Let us know the model and serial number anyway. Depending on the unit, a reduced trade-in credit may still be available — we'll confirm what's possible.

Can I trade in more than one unit at a time?

Yes. Note the quantity in the form below and your specialist will put together a quote covering all units.

Does the trade-in credit work with other promotions?

Your specialist will confirm whether a trade-in credit can be combined with any active promotion at the time of your order.

How do I find my AED's serial number?

It's typically printed on a label on the back or bottom of the unit — on some models, you may need to remove the pads or open the carry case to see it.
